Translation/Formatting
We provide translation and formatting of documents utilizing DTP programs such as Quark Xpress, PageMaker, MS Publisher, PowerPoint, Corel Ventura, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. The translated documents reflect the style and layout of the original.

DTP or desktop publishing are programs designed to layout text and illustrations to create attractive brochures, ads, news articles and manuals. The normal process is to create a translation in Microsoft Word and then layout the text using one of the many DTP programs. However, in some cases, we are able to translate directly into the DTP program to help save time and money. We will help you make this determination based on your original documents and the required languages.

Instruction Manuals
Whether it is a 600 page maintenance manual for assembling and operating an automatic transmission or single page instruction sheet for installing windshield wipers, TSI will create a clear, understandable translation to make the process flow smoothly and efficiently.

Brochures
We translate a wide variety of brochures and product bulletins, from large, room-sized turbo compressors to simple tools and accessories. Our translators have the marketing experience to ensure that the information is communicated thoughtfully and thoroughly.

Advertising
Advertising language is unique. The goal is to convince a customer to purchase a particular product or service. Our translators understand this unique language and have the skills necessary to communicate the intended message effectively.

Videos/Films
Videos and films present similar challenges for translation. We provide voice-over, dubbing, sub-titling and on-screen graphics translation. It's important to match the style and tonal quality with the master program and to stay within the allotted time frame.

Voice-over is the most common method of adding narration to a film or video. It is also the most economical.

Dubbing or lip synching, is the technique of making it appear that the person on-screen is actually talking a foreign language. As this is a complex process since no two languages have the same style or cadence, the process generally takes longer and it more costly than voice-over.

Sub-titling is the process of adding the translation in text format to the bottom of the image. This is usually used when there is a great deal of dialog and the person talking can be seen on-screen in a close-up. The costs are generally lower than voice-over, especially when more than one narrator is used in the master film or video.

On-screen graphics are typically used when there are voice-over or dubbing tracks. Quite often videos will have illustrations incorporating text (captions). In all cases, we can translate the captions and supply the foreign language in a format that can be easily edited onto the film or video. If there are several cases in a single production where onscreen graphics are utilized, we recommend using voice-over or dubbing for the narrative scenes, because using sub-titles would create for the audience as their eyes would be constantly shifting from the bottom of the screen upwards to read all of the text.

Audio Slide Shows/CBT
Audio slide shows and CBT (computer based training) typically have a wider range of tolerance for both voice and subtitles, as they are generally not bound to the same time constraints as video and film.

Until a few years ago audio slide shows were most commonly used in group settings with the slides being projected onto a screen. Now the most slide shows are distributed via a computer or website using programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint. The process to translate and/or narrate slide shows is similar to voice-over and subtitling.

CBT or computer based training has gained a secure foothold in recent years as the preferred method of educating large groups of employees who may be located in diverse areas of the country and even the world. One of the more popular programs to create CBT is Macromedia Authorware which our translators are thoroughly familiar with.

CAD (Computer Aided Design)
Computer aided design is the process of creating complex technical drawings using a variety of computer programs. In the past, these drawings were made entirely by hand on a drafting table. CAD has streamlined this process. What used to take ten hours can now be done in about one hour. TSI has pioneered the translation of CAD files. We have the ability to make the drawings available to engineers around the globe in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Website Localization
Many corporations are localizing their websites to maximize their global business potential, as they realize that international customers are more likely to respond when addressed in their native language. Working with website formatting tools such as Dreamweaver and FrontPage, TSI has the knowledge and experience to translate websites into any of the popular business languages and communicate your message to a worldwide audience.
